Winlaton Mill is a village in County Durham, in the north of the county, on the west bank of the River Derwent two miles above its junction with the River Tyne. Winlaton Mill is halfway between Winlaton to the north-west and Whickham to the east across the Derwent. It grew up around a mill on the Derwent, which is also known as Winlaton Mill.

The village is on the A694 which joins the A1 at Swalwell and contains the Red Kite Pub and Restaurant.[1]

The industrial heritage of the are is ever present. Derwenthaugh Park, now a beauty spot by te river, is laid out on the site of the former Derwenthaugh Coke Works. Now a particularly beautiful part of the Derwent Walk.
