Alphamstone is a village and parish in Essex, located four miles south of Sudbury, Suffolk and 21 miles north-east of the county town of Chelmsford.

The village is very close (about a mile) to the River Stour, which forms the Essex/Suffolk border in the local area.

It is about two miles from the nearest railway station at Bures on the Sudbury Branch Line. Its nearest significant road link is the A131.
