Scalpsie Bay

Scalpsie Bay indents the western shore of the Isle of Bute, the northern main island of Buteshire in the Firth of Clyde. It is in the south of the island, looking south towards the county's other main island, Arran.

The bay marks the point where the Highland Boundary Fault, which crosses the island north to south, crosses the coast. The fault likewise forms Rothesay Bay on the east coast of Bute. Just 700 yards inland from the bay, to the north, is Loch Quien, a couple of hundred yards north of which is the long ribbon of Loch Fad, then Rothesay Bay.
