Great Bridgeford village Hall, May 2008

Great Bridgeford is a village in Staffordshire, five miles north-west of the county town, Stafford. It lies on the A5013 road and is the point where the B5405 meets the A5013. Great Bridgeford has a village hall, and two tennis courts.

The village lies on the West Coast Main Line railway from London to Glasgow. A station at Great Bridgeford was opened in 1837 by the Grand Junction Railway but it closed to passengers in 1949 and completely in 1959.

The railway line at Great Bridgeford was the scene of a major accident and derailment on the evening of 6 June 1932. Four people died and many others were injured in this accident.[1]
