Whicham is a tiny village in the very south of Cumberland. It stands close to the sea coast, northeast of Silecroft (a village barely bigger but which has a railway station), and northwest of the county's southernmost town, Millom.

The parish church is St Mary's.

Black Combe rises to the north.
