Wash Water is a village in Berkshire. It stands adjacent to the A34 road (the Newbury Bypass), approximately three miles southwest of Newbury.
Locals claim the origin of the village name is after the spot on the River Enborne where women washed the troops' clothes during the 1st Battle of Newbury in the Civil War. It seems more likely that, like Wash Common, it is from the marshes known as the Newbury Wash.
The village pub is the Woodpecker Inn.
