Highfields Caldecote is a newly developed village in the parish of Caldecote in Cambridgeshire. It was built to the north of the original village, close to the A428 trunk route towards St Neots.

The village has a social club and a primary school. The village hall is situated next to the school and was built in 1998, replacing an older building next to the social club.

Further development in Highfields since 2000 has led to the building of a village shop, an extension to the school, a recreation ground and a hairdressing salon. There is a petrol station just outside Highfields on the old St Neots Road, at Childerley Gate.

The A428 was converted to a dual carriageway bypassing the village and was opened on 24 May 2007.

The continuing development in Highfields Caldecote saw a rapid increase in the population of Caldecote parish from an estimated 800 in 2001 to an estimated 1,690 in 2010, according to council reports.

Childerley Gate

Childerley Gate is a hamlet at the north end of Highfields Caldecote, (TL356596), on the south side of the St Neots Road, which is now bypassed by the A438 trunk route.

Childerley Gate is named after the village of Childerley, an isolated village to the north reached by a lane running from here.

Economy

The village is home to the headquarters of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, a charity known worldwide for developing the Raspberry Pi computer system.
