Maltby is a small village in the North Riding of Yorkshire, on the east side of the A19 whose broad carriageways separate it from Ingleby Barwick and the Teesside Industrial Estate.

It is a small place with a pub, The Chadwicks Inn Matby, and a small Methodist chapel, but no village shop any more. The village has a keen cricket team.

The Chadwicks Inn Maltby was formerly known as The Pathfinders, and before that The Half Moon Inn. It is the only 2 AA Rosette Gastropub in the Tees Valley. A 19th Century pub, it retains original features such as the stone fireplace and beams. It changed from the name "Half Moon Inn" to "The Pathfinders" after the War when bought by an RAF mosquito pilot named John Liddle, who renamed it in honour of the pilots and the proximity to the nearby Thornaby airfields. Mr Liddle's portrait and commendations, are still on display in the pub today."[1]
