Lochan na Stainge
Lochan na Stainge

Lochan na Stainge is a freshwater loch half a mile long on Rannoch Moor, in Argyllshire.[1][2]

The loch is a scrappy piece of water of irregular shape covering 58 acres, with an average depth of just 5 feet. It is fed by the River Bà, and the Bà leaves again from its foot. This is a flat area of the moor, with many small lochs and river channels: immediately upstream of Lochan na Stainge is Loch Bà and downstream Loch Buidhe, the three being barely separated or defined in the moorland landscape, and with them a few yards to the south-east is Lochan na h-Achlaise.
