Egglesburn is a village in County Durham, in the Teesdale: on the opposite bank in the North Riding of Yorkshire, is Mickleton.

In the 1960s, the local council bought a former sand and gravel quarry which they turned into a wildlife reserve. It is now the woodland known as Egglesburn Wood and open as a public recreation area.[1]
