Boarhunt, also known locally as South Boarhunt, is a tiny village in south-eastern Hampshire; a companion to North Boarhunt, a larger village a mile to the north. Boarhunt stands on the north slope of Ports Down: south of the village, on the ridge is a Palmerston fort, Fort Nelson, and by it the Nelson Monument.
This is a tiny place now, the original village having practically disappeared, so that Boarhunt is classified as a 'deserted village'.[1]
The village has a small church, St Nicholas, which is a late Saxon chucrh, dated to 1064. It is a Grade I listed building.[1] It underwent a restoration in 1853.
The nearest town is Portchester to the south, over Portsdown, while the much larger town, Fareham, is two miles south-west of the village.
