ScafellScafell is a mountain in Cumberland. Its height of 3,162 feet makes it the highest mountain in the county and in all England after neighbouring Scafell Pike, from which it is separated by the col of Mickledore. The name 'Sca Fell' can refer to the whole of the massif from Great End south to Slight Side; though later generations have restricted it to the peak south of Mickledore. This peak was long held to be the highest mountain in the Lake District as it is much more prominent in views than its higher neighbour, but neighbouring Scafell Pike is in fact the higher.
