Tywyn, also known as 'Towyn', is a town and seaside resort of Merionethshire, on the coast of Cardigan Bay.

The name is Welsh; tywyn means 'seashore' or 'sand-dune', and extensive dunes are still to be found to the south towards Aberdovey, and in Tywyn itself the beach and the extensive promenade are key attractions.
