TireeTiree is an island of Argyllshire; the most westerly of the inhabited isles of the Inner Hebrides, of 30 square miles in area. Its coasts are a mixture of sea-beaten cliffs and long, crescent-shaped, sandy bays. This is a low-lying island and fertile. Crofting and tourism are the main sources of employment. Scarinish, the main village has the island's jetty, and to the west is Tiree Airport. The island is known for the wealth of seabirds to be seen at the Ceann a' Mhara headland. (Read more) |
