Càrn Sgùlain is a mountain amongst the Monadhliath Mountains of Inverness-shire. It stands at 3,018 feet at its summit, and so it qualifies as a Munro.
This is the most northern and eastern of the Monadhliath Mountains but is well hidden behind its taller neighbour A' Chailleach. The hill is really nothing more than a large lump rising from the tail end of the Monadh Liath plateau so possesses little if any in the way of technical difficulties compared to its neighbours.
Ascent
The climber will find Carn Sgluian no great challenge, but should be aware of and take care of slightly craggy slopes to the south-east of the summit. Carn Sgulain is usually climbed in conjunction with its neighbouring Munro A' Chailleach by way of easy southern slopes.
From the summit of Carn Sgulain is a fine view over the Monadhliath mountains down to right down to Geal Charn and ebven beyond to the Creag Meagaidh group to the south-west.
There is parking available at Newtonmore.
