Moelfre is a hill in Merionethshire, within the Rhinogydd range. It is at the far western edge of the Snowdonia National Park, though not in Snowdonia itself. Moelfre reaches a height of 1,932 feet.
A pleasingly prominent hill, Moelfre is three miles from the village of Dyffryn Ardudwy, five miles from Llanbedr and about ten miles from the town of Harlech. Its name means "Bare Hill", which is appropriate for it.
The discrete bulk of Moelfre separates Cwm Nantcol from Ysgethin Valley.[1]
A ledged attached to Moelfre is that of three women who worked on the Sabbath and were turned into standing stones.[2]
