The River Kenwyn rises in the moors west of Truro and from here flows eastwards down to the city. It takes its name from Kenwyn, the village on its banks as it comes off the hills. Kenwyn has grown into a suburb of Truro, and the river flowing through it soon enters the city, opening into a navigable, tidal basin just before joing the River Allen, the two becoming the Truro River
