Barton Broad

Barton Broad is a large, navigable water amongst the Norfolk Broads, in Norfolk.

The broad lies on the course of the River Ant in the north of the Broadland. To the north stands the village of Barton Turf, in whose parish the broad lies.

Barton Broad is the largest of the broads after Hickling Broad and Breydon Water. It is managed as a nature reserve in the care of the Norfolk Wildlife Trust.

Sailing

The water is popular amongst sailors, and it is said that Horatio Nelson learnt to sail here. Among other users are the Sailing Club of Gresham's School.

Excursions on the broad can be made in the United Kingdom's first solar powered passenger boat, the Ra, embarking at Gay's Staithe.

A popular mooring is Neatishead Staithe.
