Woolley is a hamlet in Somerset, north of Bath, and close to the edge of Gloucestershire, amongst those steep, winding hills of that part of the shire, hills filled with the remains of ancient ages.
The parish church is All Saints.
Woolley is one of the Thankful Villages; those very few villages whose men all returned alive from the slaughter of the Great War of 1914 to 1918. Indeed, it is one of the mere handful of places which was so blessed as to be able to welcome home all its men after both the First and Second World Wars.
