Woodditton is a village in Cambridgeshire, in the east of the county, between Stetchworth and Cheveley. The parish of Woodditton, both the church parish and the civil parish, includes also Ditton Green, Little Ditton and Saxon Street.
At the time of the 2001 census, the parish's recorded population was 1,789, and in 2011, 1,818.
Ditton Green was a hamlet beside Woodditton, now just an westerly extension of the village.
Little Ditton
Little Ditton is a hamlet apart from Woodditton, just a little to the northeast along the lane, up to the crossroads with Maypole Lane.
Parish church
The parish church St Mary's, which stands a little to the north of the village centre.
The present church has been a feature of the village for over 500 years. Parts of the north aisle are 14th century. The church was stripped out by Parliamentary commissioners in the seventeenth century, but the church left standing. Notable features include a beautiful brass and a unique 'dripping pan' gravestone.
The bells were restored in 1984, having been silent for 28 years.
History
Woodditton is first mentioned in a charter of King Canute, and is listed in Domesday Book.
