Woodborough is a village in Nottinghamshire, seven miles north-east of Nottingham. The 2011 census recorded a population of 1,872.
The parish church, St Swithun's, is mediæval: it has a 13th-century tower with a 14th-century chancel. White's directory in 1853 reported:
- "The church is a large structure ... and has some fragments of ancient armorial glass in its windows which, when perfect, was exceedingly beautiful. It is a curacy, and has been augmented with Queen Anne's Bounty. The Chapter of Southwell is the patron, and the Rev. Samuel Lealand Oldacres is the incumbent."[1]
Woodborough was a framework-knitting village, and some two-storey cottages with ground-floor knitter's windows remain at the junction of Main Street and Shelt Hill.[2]
