Twyford is a small village in the east of Leicestershire. Its name is derived from the two fords in the village.

There are two churches in the village. The Church of England parish church is St Andrew's, some parts of which are dated from the 12th century. It is which is a Grade I listed building. There is also a Methodist church.

The village pub is 'The Saddle Inn'.

Twyford also has a village hall and a recreation ground.

Society and events

The Twyford Wheelbarrow Race takes place each summer, where two participants and a wheelbarrow race around the village. Some participants run in fancy dress.

The Twyford Carnival was held for several years in the 1980s and early 1990s.

In 2002, Twyford hosted one of the largest events in the region for the Queen's Golden Jubilee. It consisted of a traditional street party before moving to an evening entertainment in two large marquees at the Recreation Ground. Again in 2003, Twyford continued the theme with an event to mark the 50th anniversary of the Queen's coronation.
