Twitchen is a village in Devon, in the north of the county on the southern edge of Exmoor. It is found three miles east of South Molton (and within the South Molton Hundred), and just over a mile from the Somerset border.
The parish population was recorded at 145 in 1801, but only 70 in 2001.
Twitchen is recorded in the Domesday Book as being part of the manor of Alvred D'Epaignes having been held by freely by Beorhtweald in the time of King Edward, before the Norman conquest in 1066.[1]
