Thorneyburn is an inland village in Northumberland, to the northwest of Bellingham.
History
Thorneyburn was once served by Thorneyburn railway station on the Border Counties Railway which linked the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway, near Hexham, with the Border Union Railway at Riccarton Junction.
To the west of the station was the Thorneyburn Tileworks.[1]
The line was closed to passengers in 1956 and part of the line is now beneath the surface of Kielder Water.
Parish church
The parish church is dedicated to St Aidan.[2]
