Urquhart Castle Urquhart Castle stands in ruin beside Loch Ness in the midst of Inverness-shire, within the Highlands. The castle is on the road which runs the length of the north shore of Loch Ness, thirteen miles south-west of Inverness and a mile and a half east of the village of Drumnadrochit. The castle, standing prominently on a headland overlooking Loch Ness, and is a familiar sight to those traversing the loch. It is also a popular spot for Nessie-spotting. (Read more)
