Tullamore, County Offaly

Tullamore

Tullamore is a town in County Offaly; Offaly's county town and central town. Its name is from the Irish language; Tulach Mhór, meaning "Great mound".

The town's most famous export is Tullamore Dew, an Irish whiskey once distilled here that can be traced back to 1829. The distillery shut in the 1950s, but with recent hope that whiskey production will soon return to the town.

The Tullamore Show is held near the town every year. (Read more)
