Tory IslandTory Island, liying in the Atlantic Ocean, nine miles off the north-west coast of County Donegal is the most remote inhabited island of Ireland. The island, of just 880 acres, is inhabited by a hundred and fifty hardy souls, whose native tongue is the Ulster dialect of Irish Gaelic, in which their island's name is Toraigh, which appearently derives from the words for 'Tower of the King'.
