River Weaver The River Weaver runs through the heart of Cheshire, ultimately to discharge its waters into the tidal River Mersey at the county's northern bounds. The Weaver's natural course is navigable in its lower reaches, running in a curving route anti-clockwise across Cheshire. Improvements to the river to make it navigable were authorised in 1720 and the work, which included eleven locks, was completed in 1732.
