River North Esk

The North Esk is a river in Angus and which also forms the county boundary with Kincardineshire. It is one of numerous rivers in Britain bearing the ancient name 'Esk'; each unique in its way.

The North Esk is formed by the meeting of the Water of Mark and the Water of Lee in the hills of Angus, from which junction it flows east and southeast through Glen Esk, all in Angus.

The river forms the county border beneath the Rocks of Solitude and remains so down to the sea. (Read more)
