Hay-on-Wye

Hay-on-Wye Hay-on-Wye is a small market town on the eastern edge of Brecknockshire. It is famous as "the town of books" because of the vast number of second-hand bookshops found there. The town is within the Brecon Beacons National Park, the mountains rising swiftly to the west. It stands on the east bank of the River Wye where it is joined by the Dulas Brook, and the two streams form the boundary between Brecknockshire and Herefordshire: the village of Cusop on the other side of the Dulas Brook in Herefordshire forms part of the town area.
