Glenrothes Glenrothes is a large town in the heart of Fife which makes no pretence at being attractive. It is a planned new town of the late 1940s, in the brutalist idiom of the time and has grown to be Fife's second-largest town. Today Glenrothes is an administrative centre and since the 1980s a centre of the "Silicon Glen" electronic industry. Manufacturing and engineering remain important to the town's economy. (Read more)
