Gigha

Gigha is a small island off the west coast of the Kintyre peninsula of Argyllshire, with a population of about 110. The climate is mild with higher than average sunshine hours and the soils are fertile.

The ancestral home of Clan MacNeill, Gigha has apparently been inhabited continuously since prehistoric times. It may have had an important role in Dalriada and as with all of the Inner Hebrides it passed through the hands of the Gaels, the Norse and the Lords of the Isles in the Middle Ages, not always unscathed by the conflicts.
