BolventorBolventor is a hamlet of but a few houses and a church on Bodmin Moor in the parish of Altarnun in Cornwall. It is found a little to the west of Altarnun: once an isolated hamlet on the moor, it now stands above the trunk route of the A30. Jamaica Inn stands in the heart of Bolventor. This large coaching inn was made world-famous by Daphne du Maurier, who chose this inn, then isolated on the moor, as the setting for her famous novel of the same name – Jamaica Inn, a tale of ruthless Cornish smugglers.
