Berkshire Downs

The Berkshire Downs are a range of chalk downland hills in western Berkshire, and part of a wider downland in three counties known as the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The scarp of the Berkshire Downs faces north into the Vale of White Horse and their dip slope bounded by the course of the River Kennet. They are continuous with the Marlborough Downs to the west in Wiltshire and geologically continuous with the Chilterns to the east, divided from them by the River Thames. (Read more)
