BeaumarisThe Royal Borough of Beaumaris is the county town of the island county of Anglesey and stands in the commote of Dindaethwy on the shore of the eastern entrance to the Menai Strait, the tidal waterway separating Anglesey from the coast of mainland Great Britain. As well as being a pretty town and fishing port in its own right, Beaumaris is most famous for its castle. Beaumaris Castle is one of the great castles of the 'Iron Ring' built by King Edward I around Snowdonia to keep the peace, and today it stands, solid and magnificent within its moat overlooking the straits.
