Alexander Island

Alexander Island lies along the whole west coast of Palmer Land in the British Antarctic Territory. It is the largest island of Antarctica, and indeed the largest uninhabited island in the world after Devon Island in the Canadian Arctic: twice the size of Wales.

The island lies in the Bellingshausen Sea, separated from Palmer Land by Marguerite Bay and the George VI Sound but joined to it by the George VI Ice Shelf. (Read more)
