St Laurence Church is the parish church in Pittington, County Durham, and within the Diocese of Durham, and a fine example of a 12th century, Romanesque church.

The oldest part of the church is the westernmost end of the nave, in a simplicity of the of the early Norman building. A north arcade was built, extending of the Norman church in about 1180: it is believed that the Bishop dispatched Christian the Mason to do the job, who was thought to be responsible for both the Galilee Chapel in Durham Cathedral and the north arcade here. Original Norman windows were only uncovered in the 19th century

Interior of St Laurence

Rare 12th century wall paintings were discovered in the 19th century, showing scenes from the life of St Cuthbert.

There is also a Norman font.
