Spittal is a small hamlet in the very centre of Caithness. It stands nine miles south of Thurso and a mile and a half north of Mybster. The main A9 road runs past Spittal.
North of the hamlet is a quarry, Spittal Quarry, supplying Caithness flag, for paving stones.
