Sheeps Tor is a moorland hill of 1,211 feet on Dartmoor in Devon.
This is a rugged, barren rock, standing in the south of the high moor, capped by further granite outcrops, of the type that typify Dartmoor hills.
The hill gives its name to the village which sits at the foot of its south-western slope; Sheepstor, the burial place (incongruously) of the Rajahs of Sarawak. The valley all along the north and west of the hill is filled with the Burrator Reservoir.
Summit and ascent
The summit of Sheeps Tor is about half a mile north-east of the village. Its height, 1.211 feet, makes it one of the area's most prominent tors. From the summit there are broad views out over the moor, and across the Burrator Reservoir and its woods towards Princetown and Tavistock.
There is a footpath from Sheepstor village around the hill's west and north flanks, which provides the best access to Sheeps Tor.
