Pitsligo is a parish on the North Sea coast of Aberdeenshire situated four miles west of Fraserburgh. It contains the burgh Rosehearty, and the village of Pittullie.
This place gave its name as the title of the Forbes family, to whom it anciently belonged, and of whose castle there are still some considerable remains. Lord Pitsligo built the original parish church at Peathill around 1635. The west gable was surmounted by an elaborate birdcage belfry said to have been imported from Holland and first assembled in the courtyard of Pitsligo Castle. It is now ruinous.
