North Oakley is a sizable hamlet a mile south of Hannington in the Hampshire Downs in the north of Hampshire.
This is a rolling downland landscape of broad farms and grazed meadows. Its nearest towns are Basingstoke to the east and the border town of Tadley, six and a half miles north-east of the village, each a respectable distance away.
