North Common is a village in in Gloucestershire sitting just outside Warmley, at the very edge of the great suburban growth of Bristol. It can be found on the eastern outskirts of Bristol approximately halfway between Bristol city centre and the neighbouring city of Bath, the latter across the county border in Somerset.
Historically this was a rural hamlet surrounded by farmland. The swell of the new Bristol suburbs cane to meet it from the west however. Today east of the village opens into attractive, rolling countryside, with views of Lansdown, and the surrounding hills.
North Common is now a semi-rural village, adjacent to the suburban villages of Warmley, Oldland Common and Bridgeyate. To the east of the village is open farmland and greenbelt.
About the village
The village is home to the Bath Ales brewery.[1]
The Bristol and Bath Railway Path passes through North Common and steam trains from the Avon Valley Railway run as far as North Common, where the rail track terminates.
North Common has its own village hall, in Millers Drive[2] There are several pubs in and close to North Common; particular The Griffin and White Harte pubs at Bridgeyate, the Doplhin at Oldland Common and the Hollybush Inn towards Bridgeyate.
