Nicolas Rocks form the northern extremity of the Larsen Islands off the west end of Coronation Island, in the South Orkney Islands in the British Antarctic Territory.
The rocks were discovered by Captains George Powell and Nathaniel Palmer on or around 6 December 1821, and Powell named the northernmost point 'Cape Nicolas' after the feast day of St Nicholas, 6 December, because, when taking sights for latitude and longitude, he found that the day 'answered to that by the Almanack'. Powell's spelling 'Nicolas' has been retained because of long usage, but the term 'rocks' is considered more descriptive of the feature.
