Lyre is a townland and small village in the parish of Clonmeen, in the Barony of Duhallow, in north-westen County Cork. It is two miles from the village of Nad.[1]
The village stands at 875 feet above sea level, making it the highest village in Cork, and as some local folk claim, the third highest village in Ireland.
About the village
Lyre has a hall, a national school, a monument for hammer thrower Denis Horgan, a monument to commemorate the turn of the millennium. The local Roman Catholic church is dedicated to St Joseph.[2]
