Lochrutton

Lochfoot

Lochrutton is a parish in eastern Kirkcudbrightshire, four miles west of Dumfries containing the village of Lochfoot. It derives its name from a loch in the centre of the parish, from the Gaelic language Rutton meaning "the straight road". It is bounded by the parishes of New Abbey and Troqueer on the south and east, by Terregles and Kirkpatrick Irongray on the north and by Urr and Kirkgunzeon on the west.
