Lochans is a small village around two and a half miles south of Stranraer, in Wigtownshire.
Areas of Historic Significance
Lochans Mill in the 19th century was a small two-storey range. With walls made with stone rubble and roofed with slate.In the late 1700s this building was built as meal mill. The water wheel at the side is made from cast iron, 12 feet in diameter by 4½ feet wide, The wheel has six spokes and is mounted on a cast-iron axle. Inside the mill however the machinery has been removed.[1]
