The Little Wilbraham River in Fulbourn Fen

The Little Wilbraham River is a minor fenland river in the south-east of Cambridgeshire. It rises from springs at about 65 feet above sea level in the grounds of The Temple in Great Wilbraham and from there flows westwards, between the two villages of Great Wilbraham and Little Wilbraham.

The stream has been called into service in the drainage of the fenland here, and a channel, the New Cut, was been dug for this purpose diverting the modest waters of the river. A Neolithic enclosure, the Great Wilbraham Causewayed Enclosure has been found in the fen to the south of the river.

On Fulbourn Fen, the river meets the Caudle Ditch at about 35 feet above sea level to create the Quy Water, which flows north and east into the Great Fen.
