Knockavilla is a small village in County Cork, a few miles from Crossbarry and Innishannon.
The local Roman Catholic church is dedicated to Saint Patrick, which dates from 1790. There is also a school, a pub, a graveyard, and a community hall (situated next to the church).
Knockavilla stands on a hill to the north and west of the neighbouring villages of Innishannon and Crossbarry.
About the village
A large hillfort, Knockavilla or Clashanimud hillfort, overlooks the area. This structure dates from around 1200 BC, and is the oldest known prehistoric hillfort in the country.[1]
