On Kentisbury Down

Kentisbury Down is shallow-sloped hill, which nevertheless reaches 1,106 feet above sea level, in the north of Devon on the edge of Exmoor and three miles from the county's north coast. The down is named for Kentisbury, a small village on its western slope, while the nearest hamlet is Blackmore Gate

On the hill is an Iron Age enclosure or hill fort, on the south-eastern slope close to Blackmore Gate. The enclosure is a simple 'round'is, seen above the ancient crossroads at approx 1,050 feet above sea level.[1] [2]
