Hobbs Glacier on James Ross Island in the British Antarctic Territory flows south-eastwards into Markham Bay on the island's south coast.
This glacier was surveyed by Swedish Antarctic Expedition in 1902-03. They named it Hobbs Gletscher, after William Herbert Hobbs (1864-1953), an American geologist and glaciologist, who also wrote on early discoveries in Antarctica. Hobbs was Professor of Geology, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, 1906-34; author of Characteristics of Existing Glaciers (1911); and Leader of three expeditions to Greenland, 1926-28
The glacier was resurveyed by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey from "Hope Bay" in August 1953.
